Calamander's financial services & advisory (FSA) team advises on, and invests in, the acquisitions and disposals of banks and insurance companies in Asian frontier markets. The principals of the firm have acquired unique domain expertise over twenty years in mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, and strategy for banks and insurers. We provide advice only for institutions where we can take a principal position for our investors. Markets that we are active in include Sri Lanka, Viet Nam, Indonesia and the Philippines. Our proprietary fund and the SPV's that we structure for investors may also take significant equity positions in financial institutions listed on the public markets. Recent deals include M&A activities in Viet Nam and the Philippines with a major European bank investor, equity market positions in South East Asian banks, a Singapore bank buyout, and a distressed bank deal in Sri Lanka. Our current focus is Sri Lanka.

Prior Experience of the FSA unit principal for restructuring and strategy economic value added work includes twenty years of projects with over fifty financial institutions. This includes work for 41 banks in 14 countries, 7 insurance companies and 3 government bank restructuring agencies and central banks. M&A experience includes eleven acquisitions, one merger, eight exits as trade sales, and one IPO. Deals include Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines and Sri Lanka. Our local analysts are expert in niche Asian markets.
